RESHAPE

RESHAPE – a reconfigurable, high-tech soft surface for the gentle handling of hides – is a project funded by the Politecnico di Milano as part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), Mission 4 “Education and Research,” Component 2 “From Research to Business,” Investment Line 1.3, part of the Next Generation EU program.

The goal is to develop cutting-edge “morphing” technology for the creation of smart, actuated surfaces. This goal will be achieved through the integration of:

  • Innovative Materials
  • Flexible Sensors
  • Distributed Implementation

Role and Objectives

The TME Group, in collaboration with other private companies, plays a key role in this project, focusing on crucial aspects of technological development:

  • Definition and Design of Electronic Solutions
  • Implementation of the Sensor Control System
  • Firmware Development and Definition of Communication Protocols
  • Development of a measurement system for characterizing and evaluating material homogeneity
  • Prototype Development, Testing, and Validation

This innovative technology promises to revolutionize the delicate handling of leather, offering advanced solutions for the fashion industry and beyond. RESHAPE represents a significant step toward integrating smart technologies into production processes, improving efficiency and precision in the processing of delicate materials.
