ISPEDIA
ISPEDIA – Innovation and Efficiency for Infrastructure Inspection through the Use of Drones, Artificial Intelligence, and Smart Devices is a project funded by the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy (formerly known as the Ministry of Economic Development) that falls under the Ministerial Decree of December 31, 2021, regarding the first call for proposals under the Innovation Agreements.
ISPEDIA is the result of a collaboration among a group of leading partners, including TME, 3F&EDIN S.p.A. (the project leader), the University of Naples “Federico II,” and Nauticad SRL. This synergy between industry and academia aims to revolutionize the field of infrastructure inspections and predictive maintenance.
At the heart of the ISPEDIA project is the development of a state-of-the-art hardware/software platform, specifically designed for the infrastructure sector, which will integrate cutting-edge technologies to offer innovative solutions for the surveying, inspection, monitoring, and management of structures and infrastructure.
Key Technologies
- Drones for Detailed and Safe Aerial Inspections
- Artificial Intelligence for Advanced Analysis of Collected Data
- Smart devices for real-time monitoring
- Augmented Reality for Interactive Field Visualizations
- Digital Twin for a Comprehensive Virtual Representation of Infrastructure
ISPEDIA’s goal is to design and support a revolutionary approach to inspection and predictive maintenance processes. By combining the use of drones, advanced artificial intelligence techniques, augmented reality, and smart devices, the project aims to significantly increase the efficiency and accuracy of infrastructure monitoring activities.
The platform will not only enable safer and more detailed inspections but also predict potential problems before they occur, thanks to AI-based predictive analytics. The graphical interface on the digital twin will also provide a comprehensive and interactive view of the infrastructure, facilitating the planning of interventions and overall resource management.
